Sküll Hammer - Resisting Time (2018) – Straightforward aggressive American thrash

"Resisting Time" is the second album by an american hardened trio. Sküll Hammer members have gone through a whole lot of bands, names like Lethal Fury, Raging Fire, Shadows Sanctuary, Rawhead Rex, Chrome Shadow among others have at some time been played by one of the fellows musician. The sound is concentrated in a Thrash Metal forthright, safe and without recklessness (or would it be without audacity?).

The songs are direct, no-frills and no middlemen. Sleepwalkers begins pouring riffs mercilessly, with vigorous vocals and some tempo changes that resembles a cutted-hair Metallica. Some songs develop a more engaging vibe, with good cycling rhythms made for headbanging like Nomads of the Wasteland with its choirs to sing-along, and Street Vultures with the magnificent drum work. Although not new, it is always pleasant to enjoy good melodies that can marry well elements of the sobriety typical of English metal with American ferocity, songs like Decibel Addiction and Prisoners of Fate are true delight to our callous ears. Resisting Time closes with the grooved Blood and Guts, an authentic martial call to fight, to experience this song is to feel on a battlefield fighting for survival.

Sküll Hammer makes a fair, organized and yet quite exciting sound. Hardly it will get the spotlights that deserves. Nowadays to overflow in the soup of technical bands, you gotta be much more than competent, you gotta go a step futher, competition is destroying straightforwardness.
