Killcode – The Answer (2018) – American made metal ready to be play live

"The Answer" is the second full length album by the american band Killcode that calls itself southern-infused rock / metal or simply southern metal. Although the blues-southern influence is perceived, the album will still be sold on the hard-rock / alt-metal shelf.

Opening with the song The answer, Killcode presents all the elements that permeate the work: direct riffs, sticky melodies, strong choruses, sparse vocal effects and remarkable production. Killcode bets all the chips in these striking choruses, made to be sung live in unison. The cadenced melody and clean vocals helps create an engagement with the audience. Shot, for example, starts with a basic solo and bursts into distorted riffs that in spite of being heavy do not bother the most sensitive ears. For those looking for a sticky song to stay humming in your head, Pick Your Side assuredly will keep on rolling in your subconscious sadistically for over a week. Kickin 'and Screamin' brings a hard rock footprint mounted on a melody that smells like blues, the title already delivers the excitement of the song. Highlight for the heavier song Slave, starting at the drums groove cadence the sound evolves in thrash riffs and even accelerates, but prefers the groove to the detriment of speed and maintains a vigorous rhythm. The country-rock blues side (with preponderant harmonica sound) closes the album with the acoustic ballad Put It Off.

Killcode is the typical American alternative band, has distortion to be metal but does not offend the neighbor with the noise. Coming from the land of opportunities the sound comes easy, with a crystal clear production, pleasant riffs and nice melodies ready to be played live (or maybe on the radio). It only needs to invest more in its own identity, and lose the fear of bothering
