Mandible Klaw - Mankind Grind (2020) - Hardcore fieriness from Canada

Mandible Klaw is a fiery quintet from the frosty Calgary in Canada. They describe themselves as a punk band with energy from the 70s / 80s influenced by bands like Poison Idea, Bad Brains, No Means No and (of course!) Ramones. Although the influences are consistent, I would change the classification of Punk to the more energetic Hardcore Punk.

The fourth and self-titled album contains 13 songs, but it does not exceed 26 minutes. The sound is fast-paced, with frantic screams accompanied by piercing riffs, added to an evident punk viscera and a accentuate bass sound. The production is standard for the type of sound, unpretentious that creates the famous “recorded-live-in-the-studio” feeling. Highlight for the songs Mankind Gring, Days Without Light, Fly On The Wall and Village Idiot. This last one has a Mothorhead-essence evoken by the sharp bass ride, not for nothing is the fastest song.

Canada is increasingly becoming a picturesque barn of underground bands. Mandible Klaw is another name that adds Hardcore fever to the frigid lands in the most boreal parallels on Earth. Nothing new here, but for style lovers and curious on duty a good option.
