Kiwi Hardstyle? Let's agree in Deathcore

From the remote islands that make up modern New Zealand, comes  the possible next-best-band from Oceania, Xile. 5 guys who self-describe the band as “blend in flavour of Death Metal and European Beatdown to create Kiwi Hardstyle”. Bragginess aside, the kiwi sounds a lot like high quality Deathcore.

I Am Your God is the debut album made up of ten blasts grounded by a drummer who understands hardcore. The aggressive cadence alternates rampant beating with oscillations of rhythm that culminates in the so famous hardcore-breakdowns. This tempo works perfectly because it is accompanied by riffs that provides the intensity that the sound demands. Luke Manson, the vocalist who sings his voice out, understands the craft, since he is also the bassist of another well established New Zealand hardcore band, Antagonist AD. In Xile the vocals tend to be faster and intenser, and despite the lack of  Death metal harshness, it overflows in Hardcore violence. Highlight for Penalty Death, which reveals a sour Thrash Metal fiber and the head-banging trio that closes the album: Empty Chamber, So Much for Love and Legacy of Disgust.

We can only hope that the Kiwi Hardstyle really transcends the aquatic boundaries of the affiliated island and become a thing. For now, the sound quality is undeniable, the violence is provided in profusion, but in order to become a new genre, innovating has to be the order of the day. For now we call as a damn good deathcore.
