NinDjent0 – The Legend of Zelda: Thallcarina of Time, Part 1 (2020) – A new metal branch that has velocity, variation and videogames.
In the world of heavy music there is nothing more to be created. The last pillar not yet discovered has been invented; some astute musician from Saint Paul, Minnesota decided that he was going to mix video game music with metal. "Hey, c'mon, this style already exists, it's called nintendocore" you could arguee. True, but no nintendocore band dared to play ultra fast by inserting guitars with high gain distortion played with palm-muted, low-pitch guitar sound to generate the famous “djent” sound. The album consists of an intricate cover version of the soundtrack from The Legend of Zelda famous games. It's outstanding the machine-gun blast drum beat, the constant tempo changes and the heaps amount of drone-Djent riffs. The formula is so complex and full of instances that the musicality is exhausted in the midst of so much contortion. Some tracks feature a bit identifiable melody like Hyrule Castle Courtyard and Goron City that can almost give some peace to your ear. Boss Battle provides an appreciable energetic rhythmic, that might make you jump up to the beat and punch some walls. The formula, however, wears out quickly and the feeling of dull cyclicality starts to appear around halfway through the journey.
NinDjent0 is aimed at geeks, metal-heads, explorers of absurd genres in the metal world. The Legend of Zelda: Thallcarina of Time, Part 1 is an album played at turbo speed amplified 10 times, with a lot of technique and time variations. The fact that they are cover tracks for the Zelda game may go unnoticed due to the low musicality. I myself could'nt fulfill all the inclusion criteria necessary to become a voracious devourer of the band, go figure...
