Bang Bangalow – Nice Job (2017) - The lively Rock soul instinct
What to say on an Italian band that opens their debut album with a burst-wheezing bass, with a guitar perverted on the timbre and with shouted hoarse vocals? "Phew, at least it's not a the new Raphsody." Bang Bangalow is southern / stoner metal and debuts with the stunning "Nice Job".
The picturesque album cover already delivers the bare nature of the band authenticated by the heavy rock sound with southern influence. Only having a lot of rock'n roll spirit to start the album kicking the door with The Worst Show Ever. This mounthy and overpowering music shows a tightly knit unit, with Mark G.'s boogey vocals complimenting the guitar's roughness and the flickering bass. The six-string works neaty on every track and is punctuated with clean, well-fit and elaborate solos. The sound continues in party moods, hitting riffs that lavish heaviness like the contagious Fear. In Mosquitos the guitar creates an unsettling climate, reminiscent of the exact sensation of having a mosquito buzzing in the ear all night long. With strong Thrash influences Forget About goes in the speedy-mode full ride with just enough aggressiviness to make you flinch. The most Southern song it´s also the weakest one, the unplugged C. Almost drone by repeating the same phrase: "please, please please shot in the head", it starts well , but it fails to take off. Entering the Blues field (rock´s cousin), Ride to Hide it´s plain and pretty with its distorted slides perched on a cunning vibe.
With an uncompromising, genuine and aggressive sound Bang Bangalow has evolved literally from No Job to Nice Job. Of course carefree doesnt mean careless, and the first impression that comes from listening from end-to-end Nice Job is nice job. The rock is still breathing on theland of pizza.
