The Bronx - V (2017) - California hardcore punk to play on the radio

"V" is the fifth hardcore punk album by the not-enough-knowned band The Bronx. Despite the name, the band is from Los Angeles and inherits the lightness typical of bands coming from sunny California (in detriment of the typical harshness of the cold New York). Although the smoothness, The Bronx maintains the typical fast hardcore heritage.

"V" is an album that drinks from the same sources that feed all rebel kinds of sounds. From metal comes the aggressiveness and the distorted tone of the guitar. From hardcore the uncompromising attitude and speed, and from punk the pop enticement and the cynical views. Night Drop at the Glue Factory that opens the album puts out everything in a highway-speed with exciting bellowing vocals. When Stranger Danger clips a natural continuity, the impression that is left is that the album will mesh in March 5 and evolve in a furious fast breath. But from there begins to appear more genuine punk flashes. Side Effects, Channel Islands, Two Birds and Kingsize deliver light and paced passages to fit in our daily radio. This punk side, is interspersed with attitude-filled tracks like Fill the Tanks, Sore Throat and Broken Arrow. The highlight is Cordless Kids, which is structured on an exotic basis and operates in a more melodic cadence exhilarating under the clamor for "break you glass, find your truth".

The Bronx created an album of undoubted quality with multiple personality. Radio friendly enough not to hurt sensitive ears and provocative enough to thrill the mosh pit. The disappointment its up to the one who let himself be fooled by the cover skull and hopes to hear an aberrant New York hardcore pouring cholera into each track.
