Cavalera Conspiracy - Psychosis (2017) - Experiencing and evolving
Fourth release of the band that is the true laboratory of the Cavalera brothers. When I say lab I mean that it is in the partnership with his brother that Max manages to escape from the closed formula that sedimented the Soulfly tune and gives him the opportunity to and insert more experimental elements. But wait, dont be naive to think that they are a new exotic band, this is still that classic Thrash Metal album full of groove, but now added to elements of industrial, progressive and even noise in order to intensify the experience.
Insane opens the journey with an overwhelming riff, of direct and elemental footprint. Some clean electronic elements are softly inserted, almost as a warning the listener of the oscillating rhythm that emerges throughout the album. Terror Tactics start intense, the classic violent thrash blast that evolves in middle to the end to a typical Max´s viscous paced rhythm. Highlight to the visceral riffs of Impalement Execution and its sudden tempo changes. Spectral War, chosen as the second single, also oscillates in the progress and unfolds to a psychedelic-experimental end. Elements of death and black metal are used in the Judas Pariah, showing the accelerated nervous side of the Cavaleras, who later serene and walks into a groove with strong choruses. The climax of the experimentation occurs in the industrial-noise Hellfire. If it were not for the characteristic vocals it could easily be confused with a Ministry song. It should be notted that Iggor's drum work continues chilling, showing that his Dj vibe was not able to fog its origins.
Fleeing from the round sound that Max has established for Soulfly, the Cavalera brothers renew themselves by experimenting with sounds in the thrash metal universe. The music of the Cavalera Conspiracy is now ramified, tortuous, but loaded with weight. The talent is an extraordinary gift, able to generate forces in two brats from Brazil to conceive 3 bands of world weight.
